Physical Exam of the Hip

Physical Exam of the Hip

Physical exam of the hip is crutial to determine the source of hip pain. An extensive evaluation of both hip and lower lumbar area should be performed to determine an accurate clinical diagnosis.

Assessing hip range of motion will help determine the presence of hip FAI, dysplasia or osteoarthritis. Also, extra articular pathology including gluteus, bursitis and hamstring should be assessed during clinic visit.
